Showtime Promotes Season 4 of Hit Series “Dexter”
MARINA DEL REY, California – August 10, 2009 – Film and commercial production company Three (One) O announced today that they have completed another round of work for Showtime Networks. Director and Three (One) O principal Norry Niven recently helmed a 60-second promotional spot touting the upcoming fourth season of “Dexter,” the critically acclaimed series starring Michael C. Hall as the title character with a proclivity for murdering the not so innocent.
The spot, entitled “Time to Kill,” highlights Dexter’s newfound pressures – a new wife, a new baby and a new life in the burbs. He has everything a man could want – except time for his favorite hobby. The spot follows Dexter from his front porch, through the house and ultimately to the garage where his family prepares to leave on vacation, employing a sequence of frozen moments to illustrate Dexter’s new reality. The action plays out perfectly against the classic strains of David Bowie’s “Under Pressure.”
“Time to Kill” is just the latest collaboration between Three (One) O and Showtime. Niven has shot countless show promos and network interstitials over the years, including the promo spots for all four seasons of “Dexter.” Season three’s promo for the show, “Funhouse,” recently netted AICP and Promax|BDA awards for both Niven and Showtime.
Showtime’s creative team included Senior Creative Director Erik Friedman, Executive Producer Melody Regnier, Senior Designer Jonathan Rauberts, and Producer Diana Roach.
Airing now, along with a 15-second companion teaser, “Time to Kill” was completed with the help of West EFX and Ring of Fire, both based in Los Angeles. West EFX handled the rigging of the frozen moments and ensured their seamless appearance. Ring of Fire tackled the visual effects, compositing and delivery of the final master. Editorial was completed in-house at Showtime’s New York City offices.
